inspired by Fandango’s One Word Challenge (FOWC) of 1 January 2022, harbinger.
We were merry, at New Year’s Day fete,
When king’s envoy arrived on his skates,
But this harbinger merry,
Thanks in most part to sherry,
Had forgotten what tale to relate.
Happy New Year, folks.

Ho ho ho, and a ha ha ha!

That’s a great one! Harbinger is a fabulous word choice too

I suspect Fandango pretty much chooses the words at random but year, it was an easy limerick today. The only difficult limerick words are those with many syllables, really, because you only have so many to play with.
Ironically, really “open” words can be difficult to write, too, just in terms of having a too-wide choice of things to write. But harbinger is quite tightly defined.

A harbinger who’s forgotten
What to harbinge about
Could also be due
To blind drunk on stout
OK, or sherry……

Thanks, Tiff. Today was the last public holiday so in theory we are back to normal tomorrow. Hope yours was good, too.
