inspired by Fandango’s One Word Challenge (FOWC) of 15 February 2021, invoice.
Took my car in for servive, a battle,
The mechanic was so full of prattle,
When his invoice arrived.
It appeared contrived,
‘Specially when my poor engine still rattled.
I wanted to apologise to any blind readers out there. For so long, I have just posted images without any description of what the image actually shows. Heaven knows, my own eyesight is bad enough that I should have been sensitive to this. I have this morning added descriptions (they’re called Alt tags, for “an alternative to the image”) to many of the images in my Media Library, including the two I have used today, and will try my best to remember to do this in future.

Always like to situate a piece around a garage, service station or such. For this old coot anyway, full of so many possibilities, especially as you show here the silly but truthful and frustrating. Nice read, Sir.

I don’t understand how these alt-tags are supposed to work. Am I supposed to see a written description of the image somewhere in your post?

No, you don’t, because you see the image proper. But certain readers (like for the blind) will pick out the alt tag instead. I know it originated right at the very start of the web – some original browsers could not display pictures so the alt tag was used to describe them instead.

Ah, I see (no pun intended). Thanks for the explanation.
