At year’s end, he went off the rails,
When he’d done his exams,
I looked down at his hands,
And I saw he had no finger nails.

In our house, eucalyptus oil was the threat. One of my brothers was a thumb sucker. The threat was discussed but I can’t remember if it was ever carried out.

Eucalyptus!? Burn, baby, burn! Almost as bad as oil of wintergreen which my grandmother drank by accident. She got it mixed up with another medicine in a similar brown bottle. 😳
