I was flying along in the race,
Gold position, was setting the pace,
But I leapt the last jump,
Caught it square on the rump.
Knocked it over and finished last place.

They used to say “slow and steady wins the race” but how come I was always last?

Your funny verse gave me flashbacks to elementary school track and field day. 😞 Hurdles! Sometimes we can clear them, sometimes we need to go around them!

I didn’t care for my teacher assigning me to the hurdles. I made up for it in the crab walk competition. 🦀🥇🙌🏻
