Farmers’ Markets, I’ve just one complaint,
If I mosie on down to acquaint,
When, for sliver of cheese,
Man says, “Fifteen Pounds, please”,
My eyes roll and I come over faint.

    • Way back when, there was a big farmers’ market in Winchester. We went through a phase where we went every week. It was never cheaper than Sainsbury’s, although the quality was of course better. Plus, we needed to supplement the trips with a visit to the supermarket anyway, to pick up wasking-up liquid.

      • We do similarly. Meat from the butcher. Eggs from a farm shop nearby. Yogurt and cheese from another farm shop in Forest Row. At this time of year, I also buy fruit from pop-up stands in the lay-by, and veg from locals. Basics and tinned goods from the supermarket delivery. Times and shopping habits have changed for us.
