inspired by Fandango’s One Word Challenge (FOWC) of 31 March 2022, conjecture.
When someone stole a shedload of gear,
Why they charged me, it just wasn’t clear,
Stood in dock, quite aloof,
Not a whisker of proof,
But they still sent me down for three years!

Who needs proof???

If we’re talking seriously, though, they tried to accuse me of child abuse as recently as 2015. I mean, it helped that I didn’t abuse anybody, but I was surprised at just how amateur the Social Services people were. Zealous, yes, but incompetent. Took me a day to work out how to defend myself, less than an hour to convince them that they were on a hiding to nothing.

My son got convicted of using his mobile phone while driving, despite the fact that he not only had proof it was in for repairs, but the person who took receipt of it testified on his behalf. 🙄

Must have been your judge with no thumbs! Only the rich and idle get away with their crimes. Common people
we pay for us and for anyone else they feel like using.
