inspired by Fandango’s One Word Challenge (FOWC) of 16 January 2022, instant.
When my best friend’s wife left him, unwilling,
He became a recluse, it was chilling,
Cigarettes… instant coffee…
Lots of smooth, creamy toffee…
When she went back he needed ten fillings.

ahhh unreal emotional damage

If it’s anything like here, you probably wouldn’t be able to afford it.

The average pk of cigs in the US is 6.96. that would have cost me 49 a week and then you can imagine in a year,
nope talk about an expensive habit.

When I used to smoke, I set a limit of one carton (10 packs, 200 cigs) per week, and even then, gave up completely when that carton cost went past £20. As far as I can tell from one of our grocery sites, they are now at least £10 per pack of 20, and the branded cigarettes are more like £14.
But, you know, that’s probably how it should be. It’s funny, though. When you have a society which is engineered such that the only valuable commodity is money, the only option you have is to tax people.

Yes, but they were only taxing us <cough, cough> to get people to quit smoking. wonder how many of them smoked.

But it doesn’t actually make them quit. All it does is make their wallet lighter.
