inspired by Fandango’s One Word Challenge (FOWC) of 13 January 2022, moot.
In the barber’s, a fellow called Peter,
Was asked what style of hair would be sweeter,
But the question was moot,
Pete was bald as a coot,
Said, “I’ve really just come to read meter”
r.

lol when Canberra’s lockdown ended in October there were queues outside all the hairdressers and barbers … like sheep to the shearing. But I, like Peter, was bald as a friar bird and was therefore saved a masked wait… and possibly a raised bill.

No, I’ve been DIY since about Jan ’20. It probably doesn’t look as good but nobody sees it.

oh, no, that’s a common British phrase. Bald as a coot. Just means totally bald. What do you guys say and I’ll add it to the post.

I googled it and found it’s a water bird which I thought was really clever of you 😁

that’ll learn you! No, it’s just a phrase that already exists. In fact derived from very old English. Do you have a phrase?

Nothing like a self limerick, other than I know you are not a meter reader. ( We had them here too)

I just meant it as a meter reader but Michele and Nope not Pam thought I meant something different.

I have been barber and hairdresser for my husband and me since 2020. I first thought “Meter” was a magazine or newspaper, but since it was not capitalized, I got it, and it is definitely funnier that way, LOL.

His limerick caused them confusion
And scratching their heads in collusion
They tried to decode
His overseas mode
And hit on a specious conclusion!
😂
