This is my response to this week’s Flashback Track Friday prompt, where we were given Hotblooded by Foreigner and asked to:
Write a haiku that features the word “hot.”
My bakery job,
Bewildered when iced buns flew
from shelves like hot cakes.

thx. I’m only turned on by haiku if I can think of a good pun.

Hot cross buns or a different kind? You created this haiku with your own personal flair; bravo!

Ah, I’m guessing that Iced Buns are therefore a peculiarly British thing? Some kind of bready bun, covered in icing sugar. Often topped with a single cherry. I never actually tried one, just thought something iced selling like something hot conjured up a good image.

I don’t know if the shape is significant. They might be called different things. Same old crap, though.

The icing sugar is mixed into a paste, I think by adding water, coats the bun, whole thing appears glazed white when complete. But far too much both dough and sugar for my liking.

These look good but always make one feel a bit sickly when consumed.

I know what you mean. Anything with icing just feels like eating a sugar lump.
