inspired by Fandango’s One Word Challenge (FOWC) of 23 June 2021, namesake.
A schoolboy who lived in Brisbane,
Got a teasing for namesake John Wayne,
Every evening, of course,
He got “saddle your horse”,
Drove the poor little ** insane!
Actually, I did do a little research for this (yes, really!) and found this superb John Wayne quote:
Life is tough, but it’s tougher when you’re stupid.
John Wayne

Cheers John. I must be stupid then!
Great Limerick, Pete. How many do you have in your folder now?

Well at least it gives you the ability to out sort those you don’t like and still have plenty to make a collection from if you wanted to.

Seriously, though, there is a kudos in being picked up by a publisher, but you are expected to play their game, and even then there is not much money until you have many sales. But at least, I suppose, someone has sufficient faith in you to invest, which is kind of an indication of quality.
With self publishing, anybody can do it so there is no indication of quality, only of determination. And as for making money, I see good authors who are making $5/month.
I think it is better to be amateur, and to write purely for fun.

I fully agree. Being published is alright if you have someone paying to promote you or you have a bag of cash to throw at it yourself.
Holly’s book and maybe her series are being done now because … well because too many people wont let me quit. It is for them more than me now. Without them nothing would have happened at all.

It’s good to be aware of the self publishing process, the writing process even, the woman I sometimes write with is working on one and she has to be quite ruthless. But, nah.

Sure is.
The ruthlessness of publishers is the one bit that gets me upset. I wrote, I put my name on in. Polish if you like but don’t change it!
It’s one of the reasons I failed so often. People wanting to make my story theirs. Not happening!

yup, it’s a lot more pleasant just writing what you feel. But that’s the difference betweem pro and am, I guess.
