Sweets for my Sweet

inspired by Fandango’s One Word Challenge (FOWC) of 13 January 2021, delight.

When my daughter was learning to bake,
She decided to bake us a cake,
To her clear delight,
It was fluffy and light,
Even though she used salt by mistake.

    1. Did youever come across… I’ll probably get this wrong because it is a Breton word… Kuig Aman? That was one of our favourites,, but… just basically butter cake!
St Malo was a popular route for us and we often visited Rennes.

      1. The first time ever we went to France, aeons ago, before the kids were even a mischievous glint in my eye we went to St. Malo! I don’t remember the butter cake, though I may have had some. I’ve eaten a lot of cake since then!

        1. That was always my favourite crossing, I think because it was that much longer, it almost felt like a mini-cruise. I found St Malo very dependent on the weather – we stayed there in the summer and had an excellent time, but in the winter it was bleak. I even went over to watch the Tour on my bike one year – when not taking a car, I think the crossing was all of £20!

            1. One of the first weekends away with my wife was when we watched Pantani win in ’98, and we watched several stages since then. One year we flew down to Toulouse to go watch a stage in the Pyrenees, brilliant. Think the time I went to St Malo was 2013, they had a regular stage the one day, then a time trial at Mont St Michel the next. So worth going over, to see 2 days racing.

                1. We stayed in St Girons and watched just outside. I think there was an intermediate sprint there so, relatively, pretty flat. But the actual mountains just get gridlocked. It was always nice to soak in the atmosphere but tbh got a better view on TV. That’s my favourite part of the world, down there, always felt I belonged down there.
