Last week, Jim (NewEpicAuthor, A Unique Title For Me) set the subject of limbs (my choice). This week he gives us the simple subject: Baby.

An easy one this week. Pretty much every other song has some reference to baby, doesn’t it? So the challenge became just to think of a few of my favourite artists and to present a baby song from an artist I like.
All was going to plan, and a song which sprang immediately to mind was by the American band Big Mountain. They are a reggae band that you might have heard of. They hail from San Diego, so there is a strong Spanish influence. In 1994, they had a (US) #6 hit (it went to #2 in the UK) with Baby I Love Your Way, and my first thought was to go with this song. True to form, they also released a Spanish version which you can listen to here, if that floats your boat.
However, as I was thinking about presenting this song, I knew it was a cover, and the original version by UK artist Peter Frampton, was pretty decent itself. I’ve not even heard his name for a long while, so I thought it might be better today to feature the original artist. Peter Frampton is still going, although his chart hits were in the Seventies. He released the original Baby I Love Your Way in 1976. It was a minor hit, reaching #12 in the US but only #43 in the UK. Frampton wrote the song himself and I found a beautiful acoustic version of it to present today. Baby, I Love Your Way.
Shadows grow so long before my eyes
And they’re moving across the page
Suddenly the day turns into night
Far away from the city
But don’t hesitate
‘Cause your love won’t wait heyOoh baby I love your way every day
Want to tell you I love your way every day
Want to be with you night and dayMoon appears to shine and light the sky
With the help of some fireflies
I wonder how they have the power shine shine shine
I can see them under the pines
But don’t hesitate ’cause your love won’t wait heyOoh baby I love your way every day
Want to tell you I love your way every day
Want to be with you night and day uh yeahI can see the sunset in your eyes
Brown and grey and blue besides
Clouds are stalking islands in the sun
Wish I could dry one out of season
But don’t hesitate ’cause your love won’t wait heyOoh baby I love your way every day
Want to tell you I love your way uuhh
Want to be with you night and dayOoh baby I love your way every day
Want to tell you I love your way uuhh
Want to be with you night and day
Great song!

Oh, I didn’t realise I know this song. That was a great hit back in the 80’s wasn’t it? So I know the “Big Mountain” version I guess. Great choice!!! 🙋♀️🐝

“Frampton Comes Alive!” Is one of the best live albums of all time. My wife and I saw him in concert a few years back and he sounds just as good as ever. Great choice!

I listened to it today. Great album. I didn’t realise he also did Show Me Te Way. I’ve known the song forever but not realised it was him.

This is my favorite Frampton song, and does sound so much more intimate as an acoustic number.

I must admit I know of him but could not really have named any of his songs. Fandango wrote a comment on here mentioning a live album of his, though, and I listened to some of it yesterday. I just got a Spotify subscription so am enjoying just being able to listen to pretty much anything I feel. I was too young to remember him first time around.

I remember the summer Frampton Comes Alive songs were on every radio. He had a talking guitar!

I looked at him from the Seventies – just a load of hair 😆😆😆. He looks like he’s doing better now, for my money!

This one has always been a favorite, even decades later. Thanks for the share!

Beautiful song, and I like it without all the frills – just simple singing & guitars. 🙂

Yeah, I know what you mean. When a guy gets up with just a guitar it’s just the sign of a musician who feels he has mastered the instrument. I’m not sure Frampton would ever be my favourite style of music but I can’t fault how good the guy is.
