Inspired by Fandango’s One-Word Challenge (FOWC) of 9 August 2023, appeal.
When the choir got toge’er for a song,
They forbade me from singing, plain wrong,
Giv’n a handbell instead,
When the singing went dead,
I let rip with an almighty dong.

( hahahaha ) Excellent stuff! Goodbye morning, B.

Hiya Misk, well it’s looking like a beautiful day here, I just mowed the back lawn over lunch and now I need a lunch break!

I was going to say something like, you’re doing yourself proud, and then I hesitated because it might come across as patronising, which I would never do … so I’ll resort to weather. Errrm … it’s going to be hot tomorrow. 27C and sunny. 🤣

Don’t worry. It is an achievement to do any of this, but I have to, or the place would go to rack and ruin. But you should see me huffing and puffing!

Yes, it’s a huge achievement. I think this job of yours has set you off in a very good direction.

The new income is the game changer. I don’t know about you, but when I had no income, even though I had some money in the bank, I was afraid to spend it, bucause… one day, it would run out!
That has implications for me on e.g. retirement. Retirement is not something I am looking forward to. No matter how much I have in the bank, pretty much. I need that ticky-over aspect to feel secure.
The job itself is… meh.

Yes, I know exactly what you mean about not spending ones “nest egg”. I might need it; unforeseen circumstances; home care; going private for medical issues if needed. Interestingly, at the moment I’m relying on the NHS and finding it extremely good, very fast, and not at all like the media is reporting. More and more, I wonder if the media is cooking up news just to attract readers/listeners.

Up until covid I volunteered at the hospital. The reason I did it in the first place was because the care I received was crap, so I wanted to go up just so people could chat to someone who’d been through it.
Then, once I was up there, the care was still crap!
I’m not a fan of the NHS.
The people I spoke to through Age UK generally weren’t, either. One person was having cancer treatment and they would regularly muck up her blood test (which were required to determins doses), or the ambulance wouldn’t turn up, or it would turn up at 8pm so she wouldn’t get home after treatment until 10. All those things happened.

LOL! Bill and his twin were both forbidden to sing in their school recital (a tone deaf issue); they were told to just move their lips. Try getting away with that today.
Morning Pete

Nice! Have you ever heard a chorus of bells? The church I went to as a child had a bell choir and it was really incredible.

I’m about a mile from the church here but every now and again I hear them practising.

The bell ringing is the best part anyway 😁❤️
