There is a Grand Prix at Imola tomorrow. While listening to the radio just now, I heard the expert opinion, “I think the fastest car will win…”
Before she rather disappointingly added, “… but I don’t know which one that will be”.

The team with the faster straight line speed has had 4 DNFs, so the fastest car won’t necessarily win.

Okay, there’s a terminology problem here.I’m struggling with… ifa car doesn’t finish… how can it be the fastest?
That’s like calling a golfer the winner, just because he can drive the furthest. But that’s only part of the game.

In every race, there’s a “fastest lap” which is awarded extra points whether the driver finishes or not. A car can be fastest, but if it crashes before the finish, it might still retain the points for fastest lap if no body beats that time.

Apparently made sense to an aficionado.

Human sport is full of random rules. We must be the only species that says let’s have a race BUT here’s a book of rules. I watch dogs play. It’s all teeth and paws and fur and growling. They don’t have a zillion rules. They have fun. I found your post and all the responses hilarious. 😆 🤣

It was total nonsense to me but interesting because Misky obviously understands it better than I, and those words made sense to her.

Would you believe this made sense to somebody? Appartently the fastest car does not necessarily win. A strange sport.
