Ed had known it was a mistake. Getting involved with a co-worker. But what could he do? It was done now. And she had been delicious. Terry, the firm’s new webmaster. Yes… staff socials had much to answer for.
There had been sparks when the two first met, they had kindled over the next three months and burst, explosively into a flame at the summer party.
Ed had thought he could cope. Not long out of a long-term relationship, he thought he was over her. He was not even able to articulate why – with Terry, it just wasn’t as good.
It had come to a head just yesterday. Dreary, rainy, and Terry had come to his apartment to spend a quiet Sunday together. But everything she did was irritating, and Ed just wanted to be on his own. Impossible to conceal his mood, there had been the inevitable row.
And last night, Ed and Terry had broken up.
Ed had come in on tenterhooks this morning, anxious not even to see Terry. But he relaxed somewhat when he learned that she was tucked away in a meeting. Mid-morning, he happened to visit the company’s web site. On the front page, he saw the photos.
PS – I am absolutely convinced that not all women are like this. I even hope to meet one, one day 🤣🤣🤣.

Golden rule? You mean treating others as one wants to be treated?
