An explorer had simply one goal,
For to trek with a sled to North Pole,
But while on her way there,
Met a great polar bear,
Which regrettably ate her up whole.

This reminds me of another limerick I read in a Dogalogue of Comic Verse when I was a child. It went like this:
There was a young man from Bengal
who went to a fancy dress ball.
He said “I’ll risk it
and go as a biscuit”.
But a dog ate him up in the hall.
