I remember picking up a – lovely, admittedly – cotton sweater in St Melo once and being told it was €250! Put it back very carefully.

the question is, what are we paying for? I suspect much of it is made in sweat shops in Bangladesh, same as a t-shirt from Kmart.

true. That’s something I have cared more and more about over the years. I look at what I reckon the profit margin is, I reckon mosrt shirts cost less than $1 to make, and… it’s surprising what you can do without.

Many boutiques used to have Made in Canada labels, and the products were visibly of good quality, but now, most clothing is made abroad, the quality is low, and the prices went up anyway, so that is when I stopped going to these stores.

Same here. Shops which precisely were known for their reputation, too. They must’ve thought people wouldn’t notice.

I am the same way, hehe! I just keep my clothes, and eventually they are fashionable again, or become “retro”.
