Last week, Jim (NewEpicAuthor, A Unique Title For Me) set a theme of football terms (my choice). This week, he’s looking for songs written by the Three Amigos, by which he means a link to a Tom, a Dick or a Harry.

When I read Jim’s prompt this week, I had to think a bit, but I got there. I got a Harry, so no matter, I’ll go with her.
So my choice this week is straightforward. From 1979, this is a hit from Blondie, and was written by band members Jimmy Destri and Debbie Harry. In fact, though she is famous as a singer, Harry had a hand in relatively few Blondie tracks, but this is one of them. It was quite a big hit in Europe (#1 in the UK, #3 in Ireland, #6 in France, #7 in Belgium), but only reached #39 in the Billboard Hot 100. Only! In the UK, every Blondie song tended to be popular and my French teacher had a pin-up of Debbie Harry (who is the same age as my mother was!)
Uh huh make me tonight
Tonight make it right
Uh huh make me tonight
Tonight, tonightOh, your hair is beautiful
Oh, tonight, atomicUh huh make me tonight
Tonight, tonight
Oh, uh huh make it magnificent
Tonight rightOh your hair is beautiful
Oh, tonight, atomicYour hair is beautiful
Oh your hair is beautiful
Tonight
Your hair is beautiful
Tonight, make it magnificent
Tonight make me tonightYour hair is beautiful
Oh, tonightOh atomic
Oh atomic
Oh tonight
Oh atomic
Oh atomic
Oh
I love this song, one of my favourite Blondie tracks.

For me, it comes from the cusp of when I became aware of current affairs, including current chart music – I got my first ever LP in 1979. My first memory was Debbie Harry as this gorgeous blonde bombshell although I learned to appreciate the music a few years later.

I’d seen the pin-up style pics a while before the music came along.

Every reason to be! She’d be late seventies now.

Debbie Harry is popular today 🙂 Bit this is such a good song! I knew it but it is so fun to hear it again 🙂

It is very “of the time”, I think, very post-punk.

A great tangent.

Men universally loved Blondie I think. Weird to think she’s that old now. She is immortally young in her videos. Great choice!

The video was blocked from me due to copyright.
Huh? 😳 I didn’t do anything wrong, I swear! 😄
Oh, well. Hope you have a great week! 😊

Oh no, that happens to me sometimes too. It is utter nonsense – even having copyright restrictions on a 40yo song – what do they want to do, try to make sure part of the world can’t hear it yet? Grrrrrr. If it made any sense I could understand it.
Unfortunately when I pick to thing on YouTube, they don’t tell me where it will or won’t play – all I know is that it’ll play in my region. It’s a shame because it’s not a bad song!

I’m sure I’ll browse up on it at some point. 😊

Same here, I couldn’t watch the video. But, I may have heard it before, as I like a lot of her songs. 🙂

I sent a message to YouTube saying they should make people aware of where a video will and won’t play. But Google is just another big organisation so I don’t expect to hear anything back, unfortunately.
