A Mishmash

Which relationship has taught you the most about yourself?

I think all relationships can teach us something.

Romantic relationships teach us what it’s like to be in sync with another person.

And when they end, we learn how strong we can be on our own.

Parental relationships teach us to put another human being before ourselves.

Or that children have a mind of their own, which can be both agonising and rewarding in equal measure.

Or how patient our parents were.

Or that sometimes we’re wrong.

Friendship, too, shows synergy. Kindred spirits. That joy of spending time with someone, and of them wanting to spend time with us.

Or with animals. Gaining another creature’s trust.

But which taught me the most? Impossible to say. All of them mix together, and the result is what you see before you.

Or would be, if I could fathom how my webcam worked!
