Nope.

Look at all the inequality in the world. It’s tremendously satisfying to want to believe “what goes around, comes around”, but it doesn’t really happen in practise.

Look at a couple of historical killers. Hitler? Stalin? Did they have karma happen to them? Well, they died, but that’s only the same fate which has befallen every single human who ever lived.

Going further back, look at things like the Armenian genocide, which happened around the time of the First World War. Of the order of a million deaths, and nobody was even held responsible, let alone punished. So whoever caused those deaths, they got off scot-free.

Look at a couple of modern cases. The UN, these days, is quite happy to use the word genocide about Gaza – of the order of 100,000 deaths, yet nobody from either the perpetrators or the enablers looks like they will face justice. I know. It’s recent history, early days yet. And winds may change, but it looks unlikely.

You don’t even need to look at killings. What sort of warped karma is going on when one person – a real, individual human being who is alive and breathing the same air as me – can launch a rocket into space while another needs to use a food bank?
