Stuck in the Middle with You

My friend sent me this photograph, within the last couple of weeks. She was riding on a bus, quite early in the morning, passing the military base of RAF Fairford in Gloucestershire. Although it is RAF, it’s given over to the US air force.

That mighty aeroplane was see, she told me, is a B1 bomber. See how the bomb bay doors are open? It’s about to be loaded with munitions and flown to Iran.

Publicly, the UK is allowing the US to use bases in the UK for defensive strikes. I don’t blame you if, this far in, you’d ask just how many strikes can possibly be deemed defensive.

In reality, the base is being used daily for these missions. People who live near Fairford know this, see this, hear this even if our media is happy to accept government spin.

Please, take a view either in support or against these strikes on Iran, but don’t bury your head in the sand. Don’t fall for the line that the UK is minimally involved. We’re in it up to our necks.

Incidentally, how peaceful do you think Gaza is, now that the media has stopped reporting?

    • Yes it is difficult to form an opinion that we see objective news. I think the best way to get anything vaguely objective is to watch two opposing channels and decide that the truth must be halfway in between. But who has time for that?
