Insufficient

It’s insufficient
To exhort
One fine, autumn day.

Insufficient
To attend
The annual ritual

Insufficient
to relapse
To belligerence

We must reflect, question.
Understand.
The failures.

And learn.
To render their sacrifice
Worthwhile.

    • True. What we should be remembering was that people founght WW1 as “the war to end all wars”. And how wrong they were!
And after WW2, people really believed that they were fighting for change. Hence the Labour landslide in 1945 – an outright rejection of the status quo. But, how short-lived it all was!
Let alone the more recent wars which seem to have gained absolutely nothing.
