At school Sports Day, held ‘longside our study,
In cross-country, the course was too woody,
The coach yelled, “Come on”,
It was alright for him,
It was *me* that was all wet and muddy.

Odd, never a runner myself except wind sprints training for football and hurdles training for pole vault, every cross country meet I ever attended (buds or sons running) was wet and miserable. Up to your standard of limerick excellence, here. Good to see you poking around more. I understand busy, though.

I hated it. They made us do it until about age 15.
In later years I got my revenge, and selected snooker as my sport! Go figure!
