Inspired by Fandango’s One-Word Challenge (FOWC) of 1 May 2023, sporadic.
When I got my first job, I was scarred,
I discovered this new life was hard,
Though sometimes I worked,
More often I shirked,
And after two weeks they gave me mny cards.
Happy Mayday everybody! Please take a moment to consider what this day is all about. Commemorating ordinary people, people like you or I, who fought for hundreds of years to gain rights such as time off for illness, even for weekends or vacations, which we’re able to take for granted today. Enjoy yourselves!

Nice! Morning, Pete.

I am as sick as a dog tonight, but I still dutifully went to work … where I was avoided like I had the plague

Oh well done you!! I have a stinking cold, and coughed all night. As instructed, I’m blaming it on you.

Most people don’t know the history of May Day or any holiday really. I’m grateful for those who fought for fair wages and time off. In the US we still have a ways to go in this regard.

Aw, man, there’s always further to go. Equality is a long way off. But, baby steps
