Inspired by Fandango’s One-Word Challenge (FOWC) of 11 March 2023, irregular.
When those nasty Americans roared,
Good King George sent his troops off to war,
But in tunics bright red,
Those yanks soon shot them dead,
Now you’re stuck in your own mess, you did it all yourselves and you can’t go blaming anybody else!

Good one today Pete! 🙂

The British deserve to be poked, Shirley. You’ll know that only too well from 1916.

No, the Easter Rising was in 1916. But because it was during wartime there were calls for the protesters to be shot as traitors. The ringleaders were. Some of them, already wounded, were propped up to face firing squads. The Brits were nasty fuckers. But the event paved the way for kicking them out of Ireland for good.

Jeez! That’s gruesome. Man’s inhumanity….. Another Sunday, Bloody Sunday.
My mistake; I thought Somme was also 1916

There were several of them in Irish history alone, let alone crimes which happened in the Carribean or the Indias. But it’s like you with the native Americans, a lot of history was airbrushed out. You have to go digging. But Jamaicans/Irish/Indians know.

First we had to fight the redcoats to escape tyranny, to gain our independence, and to create our democracy.
Now we have to fight the red states to keep our independence, to preserve our democracy, and to avoid tyranny.

That fight is perpetual, because someone will always try to take advantage. Napoleon, Hitler, Putin…
