I don’t know why but I had somehow made a bunch of Italian connections on here which I guess has given me a good senmse of its geography. Even Nance!

I’ve been to Como and Milano but I’d love to see more of the country. I

Como is nice but Milano is too industrial for me. There were concession stands on the room of the Duomo!

We stayed in a flat quite close to the Duomo, so we were fairly central. Loved Milano. Found Como very expensive at the time, so probably outrageous nowadays.

Just take a month off and visit the whole island. I can hook you up with my relatives. They’ll give you homemade wine, fruit picked off the trees in their gardens and take you to see the ancient temples. I’m talking myself into going!

Cycling?

No. My buddy did, north to south, which would have been amazing. Just after my stroke. He was the guy who later cycled across the US.

How long did it take him to cycle across the US?

Not sure. It’s, what, 3000 miles? Fifty miles a day is a decent ride. Couple of months? But I’m not really sure. Maybe 3 months because there are bound to be places you’d want to stop at.
It was very interesting, what he had to say about The Middle, how depressed it was.

What an extraordinary journey (and adventure for him!). He must have been extremely fit, as it’s no easy task to cycle all that way.

It’s ironic that when I was fit, I was the tourer, but western Europe mainly. I never really had to go further than France to be in my Utopia.
Since my stroke, he’s done Italy, the States, Cuba and even cycled the North Sea rim, from about Holland up to Norway, which would have been cool.
