I can’t remember, but Du Maurier wrote it. Jamaica Inn? I had a bowl of soup at Jamaica Inn a few ago.

You’re right about Du Maurier. Rebecca. Mrs B’s favourite novel, I could not forget. We’ve been to Jamaica Inn a few times and I re-read (listened to) it only a year or two ago.

I think Jamaica Inn is one of my favourite books.

I never really read fiction. Strange given that I write it now. I like Dumas. I tackled Three Musketeers in French (actually an easy book). But even when I was young I read authors I felt I was supposed to read: Dostoyevsky, Nietzche, Kafka. But I did actually get very into Orwell. I used to go for biographies, esp one-off authors. I figure everybody has at least one interesting story – their own.

I think I was about 14 when I read Animal Farm. It scared the dickens out of me.

My two were Catalonia and Wigan Pier. Okay, not novels. Actually some of his lesser novels were shocking. Keep the Aspidistra Flying… god knows how it got published.

Rebecca. I have an advantage because Mrs B hails from around there so has familiarised me with Du Maurier’s work.
