The simple solution, in many cases, is to make one’s own breakfast. But if it’s about the marmite… I prefer vegemite.

We hosted a Danish exchange student who lathered it on her breakfast toast thinking it was chocolate spread. She was in for a shock! I think it put her off Vegemite for life.

I used Nutella in a flash the other week, same kind of thing. Love/hate. But Marmite was the one I really wanted to use, so I just went for it today.
I have a US friend who basically had to guess what it waws, so I didn’t use it last time, but you can get it from Walmart.com – honest!
It’s has even crossed into the language here – if someone is “marmite” people either love them or hate them.

I’ve had Nutella on biscuits, and in crepes. That’s popular in France. Even in croissants. Loved them all. But not on toast.

Serious, I think it’s actually yeast extract. Both are. So it might well be something to avoid.
