for Fandango’s One Word Challenge (FOWC) of 29 November 2020, putrid.
When looking at the White House,
There isn’t long to go,
Just six more weeks of waiting,
And then you’ll have your Joe.
All the dodgy dealings,
And all those putrid smells,
With guns and immigration,
White supremacy, as well.
We need to give the man time,
Some time to turn the tide,
But we have expectations too
There will be no free ride.
The CO2 emitters
How loud will be their voice?
When climate verson system,
What will be his choice?
I realise he’s restricted,
I’m not quite so naive,
But lest we see some progress,
The world will not believe.

Thanks, Mr. Bump. I appreciate your poem coming from the UK. It shows me just how inter-connected we humans are in this day and age of the internet. Our Gov’t has gone to hell in a handbag with ‘ass hole’ in charge. I just pray he hasn’t damaged it beyond repair. But, you are more astute than most Americans in that you realize he can’t do things entirely on his own – he has to work with (fight with?) 535 other people to get anything done. If all they want to do is stand around and piss on each others shoes, then his chances are slim and none.
I enjoy comments from my UK and European friends. Thanks again.

Thank you for stopping by. My poem recognizes that even under Obama, CO2 emissions went up. It’s not Trump, it’s not even a US thing, because the UK and RoW are just as bad, but certainly the US needs to start playing an active role.

I agree. It will take a lot if work to overturn the harm T has done. If only the money T spends on lawyers was used for something good, but that won’t happen. If McConnell came down with a serious case of Covid, maybe he’d see the light. Right now he’s going to be a thorn in Biden’s side.

I wish McConnell would ‘see the light’, but I’m afraid he’s been drinking the cool aide too long. There are 27 people – last I heard – that have the bug among the WH staff, and yet ass hole keeps singing his hoax, fake news, conspiracy melody as if it’s gospel truth. I can’t wrap my head around how many and why people fall for his bull shit. I think common sense has been bred out of humanity?
I dislike the far right as much as the far left. Neither of those groups appear to have any form of common sense. The work of gov’t or any organization only get’s done by compromise – working together in the middle. I’m not so sure we can do that anymore. It seems he has turned the radicals loose on both sides and no one is about to cross the line to walk out in the middle. Damn shame.

I share your analysis. I remember when RBG died, I looked up the numbers around her appointment. It’s impossible to envisage that level of co-operation just 25 years later.

Especially the so-called Supreme Court now.

You’re very right. There are often so many factors people don’t see — and the press tends to fudge over. It takes more than one man to fix the world. There’s a far left and a far right that must be balanced, and you just can’t please some people without causing grief to others. As you mentioned in an earlier post. 🙂

Yes, our Joe will have an uphill and lengthy row to hoe to get the U.S. back on track after all of the damage Trump has done and still is doing. It’s amazing how quickly (just four years) Trump and his sycophants were able to bring the American Democrat to its knees.

I think it’ll be interesting to see, post-Trump, how active a role the US plays. But I’m not really sure that anybody is pulling their weight.

We already know the majority of R’s are going to do their best to try and stop any good progress. The Kool-aid was strong. I wish I knew an antidote.

Funny, I just read a post from Vic Crain about 2020 and hurricanes in the USA… The trouble is, I don’t think anybody has much of an appetite to stop consuming.

2021 doesn’t have to do much to beat 2020, but a vaccine and a semi-decent (and semi-literate) leader of the free world are a good start.
