The Butt of the Joke

I did wonder how best to answer this prompt today, but having already published a limerick today, I thought perhaps some folk music? My Irish uncle taught me this one.

Designed/developed IT systems for banks, but had a stroke in 2016, aged 48. Returned to developing from home, plus do some voluntary work. Married, with a grown-up, left-home daughter.

  1. Brilliant! What a great way to respond to the challenge. Oh I used to love Val Doonican and this song, he used to brighten up Saturday nights when we’d all sit around the TV.

        1. Actually the thing which struck me when I first listened to it again was just how good it was. We tend fall into the trap of thinking of modern talent being better, of old talent being staid, but it is not so at all. Certainly, production is better, but the raw talent was every bit as good.
