Callantsoog is on the North Sea coast of the North Holland province of the Netherlands. Much of North Holland lies below sea level, so the dunes you see (when you view the webcam) are largely manmade, to keep the sea at bay. My main memory of Callantsoog is having the most amazing fish’n’chips there – we Britishers are used to fish cooked in batter (i.e. stodge), but these fish were fried instead in the most amazing seasoning. Not a bad view while we were eating, either.
Is it any surprise we used to holiday here?
This looks so peaceful.

that whole coast is just pleasant. Very “duney”. Another site, just up the coast, is https://www.texel.net/en/see-and-do/webcams-on-texel/ Texel is an island just off the mainland. In normal times, there is a car ferry runs between the two.

Water calms my soul. I am an hour and a half from the Pacific Ocean. I think that will be my first destination, post isolation.

We are maybe 30 minutes from the south coast of the UK. 45 minutes from a big ferry port. We always tended to go to Europe on vacation, I guess France mostly, and the 12-hour ferry crossing was always a perfect start.

Actually I’m looking at it at 6PM UK time – even more beautiful now because a lot of that cloud has gone. Cold, though, only 45-50F
