I try not to use my blog posts just for small comments on news pieces but I find this story, from the BBC, very upsetting:

I appreciate that most of you will not know who this guy is. He is a one-time pop star who has since become a pastor and something of a UK TV personality. He is witty and hilarious to watch, refreshingly intelligent.
He’s also a guy who has just lost his partner.
How utterly awful. I’m dumbfounded at some people’s cruelty and heartlessness.

I suppose it’s worth remembering that he said 99.9999% of the letters and comments he received were caring and supportive. It was just a tiny minority who were deeply unpleasant.

What a lovely man Richard is. There is nothing more un Christian than the views of these bigoted and horrible people.

People and their opinions! Opinions are like asses, everybody has one but it’s not always appropriate to show it to the world!

Peter’s comment is absolutely spot on. It beggars belief that people will believe such things and still claim to have religion.

I never understood such duality and I never will. It is not right.
