Funnily enough I just had to wait a month to get a 10-minute telephone appointment with a gp.

that’s ridiculous! I like your comment, not the NHS service level… having said that, I had a cataract operation on the NHS in December and was well looked after…

it’s variable, I think. A friend of mine had prostate surgery and he was very impressed – he has houses in both Salisbury and Earl’s Court, so he was able to do it through his London GP. He does however maintain that the Salisbury people are rubbish. I was deeply unimpressed with both the stroke care and the eye care in Salisbury. Especially when, as my own employer, I knew exactly how much I was paying every year for the “service”.
But of course this is the first goal – to get the same level everywhere. Then we can worry about getting it better.

postcode lottery… in this respect I suppose I am lucky to be living in London, this way I had the operation done by Moorfields Eye Hospital which is renowned even beyond the U.K.

You’re probably right.
They have this thing here. Any one of them has this bright idea, and the first question is without doubt “how ya gonna pay for it?” And they trot out this whizzy-whiz spiel which is total bs!
I tell you, the only people who look good are the commentators!
Our election has become pretty much about the ecomony. Pretty much every election is.

It is the same here, you have to wait weeks for an appointment, its incredibly annoying, but the health service has gone to pot!
