As my shiny new TV set glowed,
I sat down to my favourite show,
But the aerial broke,
I was heartbroken, choked,
‘Cos the picture was blanked out with snow

Oh gosh, I remember “test patterns”. And that squealing wail noise.

My funniest time was when, aged about 16 and looking after the house, I got drunk and went to bed, not realising the telly was still on. It was before 24h broadcasting.
And then was awoken at 6 o;clock when the programmes started up again!

I so remember that, and how the TV shows stopped around midnight and you’d get the snow until morning news
