y. In the gym, you “spin” at something like 120 revs/minute, but against zero resistance. On a real bike you’d maybe only go half of that rate, but of course there migt be lots of resistance if you’ve got the wind or the road against you.
Someone like Lance Armstrong was so successful because he was able to spin really fast, even against resistance.

Relatively easy with no resistance, although of course it becomes aerobic then when you do it for long enough.
I think Armstrong used to cycle in about the 90s, maybe more.
I used to cycle in the 50s. You can put sensors on your bike and measure it. Cadence.

Meh, most of them were, back then. He was still a good cyclist. Even someone like Merckx, who was probably the very best (although that’s contentious), was penalised for failing a dope test. Like all things, though, injecting cash upped the stakes somewhat.

Yes he was a phenomenal cyclist and athlete I don’t deny him that but he skirted the rules to profit
