Out for a walk in the New Forest yesterday. The southern part of the forest is wooded, as you might imagine a forest to be, but the northern half, where we live, is more heathland. In my cycling days, this was my go-to ride, early Saturday morning to remind me why I lived so far from London.
It’s interesting (honest!) because during the war, this area used to contain a bombing range. I explored it a few times on my mountain bike – it’s far away from the roads and you can only get there cross-country. You can still see concrete mock-ups of U-Boats, plus enormous targets that have been carved into the chalk. X really does mark the spot!
The acorn, what can I say? We went for a coffee afterwards! But doesn’t the sky look lovely at this time of year?

can you imagine the size of the oak tree?

That’s an excellent cycling track indeed… I used to have one favorite bike track in the Philippines, quite similar to this one but of course, of different color palette since we only have green and brown leaves over there 😀 😀 😀
The skies certainly look lovely ❤ and the acorn!!! 😀

I used to love it. I mean, I stayed on the roadsmostly but you can imagine, even those are quiet. It was a circuit out into the forest, only took 3/4 hour, but set me up for the weekend.

What a beautiful place – whether for a walk, for a cycle, or for taking pics! 🙂

true. It’s a pity, actually, because it’s far less accessible since the stroke. Even with these photos, the main concern was not the view, but not falling over.

thx. I’d lived in cities my whole life and decided this was the place I wanted to put down roots. We live in a village right on the edge.

Thanks, Sanjeet. Anything like what you see?
Oh, I meant to say… was that Brian Cox programme called Universe? It is airing here. Good but like I said, samey.

Yeah ‘Universe’. Yes samey because it’s just Brian Cox style overall.

obviously worked out that being a tv presenter pays more than being a physics professor. What a world!

Ahh you are very fortunate sir! Although Reuben is pretty cool

Reuben is a typical neutareered male. His interests are hunt, sleep, eat, and his patterns are predictable. Lola, the girl, acts a lot more on a whim.

Ahh so is Lola a daddy’s girl?

She’s far more twitchy than he is. I love her to bits but I wish she’d just chill sometimes. Having said that she is asleep in the sun at the moment. what about yours? Boys or girls?

Bringing a cat into my family dynamic would be a disaster! 😁

Yes, it’s really lovely. Our trees here are nearly bare now.

Beautiful shades in the sky, such a piercing blue and the acorn, well that why they call them the “mighty oak”
trees. Perfect place to go to off on your own to enjoy the solitude.

Very good! I’m more familiar with the high peak in Derbyshire. That’s also lovely 😊

yes. We’re lucky to have so many different terrains, I think. It’s relatively low here, maybe only up to 150m, but the forest is on a kind-of plateau.
