An image of Poole Harbour in Dorset, in brign sunshine

Poole Harbour, looking from Brownsea Island towards the Purbecks. Poole Harbour is one of the largest natural harbours in the world,.although the water averages less than a few feet.

Human beings, being intelligent creatures, thought that the water would be a barrier, when they introduced Sika deer to one of the islands. Unfortunately the sika, also being intelligent creatures, waded across the harbour and colonised much of the surrounding countryside.
