Reblog: Songshine Sunday #8

KK is on vacation this week, so the Sunday post she normally does, the post which spawned the name of the blog, I did this week.

The theme of the post is “uplifting” and so I chose one from the early Sixties. Pre-Beatles music, I often find quite innocent, youthful, optimistis I guess, maybe a little naive even? So I thought this track would fit the bill.

I didn’t write it in the post, but the singer, a guy called Gerry Marsden, died at the start of this year. I don’t think it was COVID-related, but sad nevertheless. And while I couldn’t wait to leave Liverpool, he lived his whole life up there. I guess the early chart success made him financially-secure, and he was well-known up there for the charity work he did these later years.

My clip shows him at the indestructable age of 21.

Songshine Sounds

Graphig for the Songshine Sunday post

Whether or not there’s sunshine where you are in the world this Sunday, we hope you’ll enjoy a sunny track, and that it uplifts your spirit.

KK took a week off this week so I’m afraid you get my pick. Sorry. She’ll be back next week. Unless it’s a really good vacation, I guess.
