In response to Fandango’s Who Won the Week post, I have been looking at my own newsfeeds.
I normally like to post some quirky story or other, that I have come across, and while there’s not really a “winner” here, I can think of very little quirkier.
Another weather anomaly. Did you read that it snowed in the Sahara recently?
The Algerian town of Ain Sefra recorded snowfall for only the fourth time in living memory – previous occasions being 1979, 2017 and 2018. So that’s three of the last four winters.
Temperatures there fell to -3C (26F). The average temperature at this time of year is 14C (57F), while in the summer, the average temperature reaches 38C (100F).

I suppose they’re happy for it? Snow is the best kind of moisture, we always say; it doesn’t run off right away.
