Before I start, I presented this song a few months ago, then pulled the post. I do not habitually pull posts once they are live, in fact this was the only one I ever pulled. The result is that you might have heard this song, in which case, don’t waste your time, move on to your next post.
I presented this song for an SLS entry, but somebody complained to me that they thought the post was off-topic. As the post (any posts of this type) was just sharing a link to a bit of music, designed simply to entertain people for a few minutes, hopefully bring back a memory and raise a smile, it wasn’t the end of the world for me if I skipped it altogether. I decided it was best just to pull the post rather than risk anybody else getting upset.
At the time I pulled it, my post had a couple dozen views so the upshot is that some of you might have already seen me post this tune. If so, I’m sorry to bug you with this song again. Just skip the rest of this post.
Anyway, back on track, I do like this version of the song, so decided to repost it, independent of any prompt. I’m sure we all know the tune itself – it went #1 most everywhere in 1985 (although not the UK).
What I didn’t realise was that A-ha released an “unplugged” album, and this song is the last track. I thought it was lovely.
Itโs beautiful Pete. A nice start to my day. So relaxing. Beautiful words, beautiful piano playing. I love it. Thanks for posting it.

Somebody commented specifically on being able to hear the words clearly first time around, too. You kinda realise how much the “pop” version takes that away.

I know, this one is gorgeous.

Wow! That’s so hauntingly beautiful while at the same time instantly recognisable – I love it! ๐

I remember this post – it drove me to look up Aha’s Unplugged playlist on Spotify and I’m still enjoying it!
It was a great share then and is a great share today, my friend. ๐

It spurred me on too to look for other “unplugged” songs. I have stored this playlist although some of the songs are not really my thing. https://open.spotify.com/playlist/37i9dQZF1DX64zDfGvlEtl?si=nyFt5NnBQ4mj4-MZcSf6VA
I thought I might share another unplugged song next week.

Not familiar with all the artists but unplugged is always good to write to. Thanks!

WOW! I have never been a Sara Bareilles fan but she hits “Sitting on the Dock of the Bay” right out of the park! NICE!

This is weird. ย I had not heard this song in years and then last week my granddaughter was blasting it in her car as we drove to the cleaners. ย Naturally we sang along full blast!

Kids are so lucky, aren’t they? All this music is already out there, waiting for them to discover it.

Glad you (re)posted it, I hadn’t heard it yet.

You were very young when it first came out.

First time I’ve heard this unplugged and slowed down, though I hear the song on the radio all the time. I used to watch the unplugged show, and really liked a lot of the songs. ๐

there was a show? I don’t think we ever got that. I did get 3 or 4 “unplugged” CDs and of course now we have global things like Spotify. I found a sew unplugged playlists on there.

Yes, it was MTV Unplugged, and had lots of well known artists performing each week. I just googled it and it has a list of all the shows. ๐

I guess the CDs were compiled as a result of the TV show. Seems like a good idea, a lot of us seem to like this “unplugged” style, just as a new way of hearing the song.

Love EVERY version of this song. Love movies so I especially love the this slower โDeadpool 2โ version but equally love the faster โReady player one versionโ … agree with blindzanygirl. Thank you for posting

I think they used the unplugged version of this song for Deadpool…

Yes I think someone else said that, too, so you’re probably right. I never saw that film. I think there might have been an old Clint Eastwood Dirty Harry film subtitled Dead Pool but that’s as close as I get! Showing my age…

You’re not old, besides, age is just a number ๐ ๐ ๐ I am not that young by the way… I just have tons of pop culture references ๐ ๐ ๐
It’s a nice film… not the typical superhero movie… you ‘should’ try it!

I might watch it when it comes on TV. I think the only superhero I watched was Christopher Reeve.

๐ I still watch those films! And the effects!! OMG, the best! ๐

Thanks very much. I’ll have to check it out properly later. I do what’s called a “telephone befriending” thing for a charity – so am looking forward to spending this afternoon on the phone. Let’s see how much energy I have left afterwards.
