I’ve quite got into Fandango’s One Word challenge prompts since lockdown. My top priority is to keep my post short – just because anybody reading through the comments/pingbacks on his prompt will likely have a couple of dozen posts to read through. When I look through the pingbacks, it is normally the last thing I do before I shut down each night, so my eyelids are heavy and I’ll probably just skip the adventure altogether if I’m faced with a 15-minute post.

Second, I like to mix it up a bit, I don’t want to post the same thing day after day. Beyond that, it’s nice to post something provocative, if I can. Something which, although short, might trigger some deeper thought process in the reader.

As regards the actual content, I’m not really fussed. Usually it will be a quotation, or a song, or a photo, something that might be a two-second read, although it will normally take an hour or two to research and write. Sometimes that research might just be background thinking until I settle on some idea, other times it might be looking actively through web sites until I find the right image or quote.
