inspired by Fandango’s One Word Challenge (FOWC) of 10 February 2022, renounce.
A promising boxer called Bert,
Fought the champ, with a mind to cause hurt,
But young Bert got knocked down,
In the very first round,
Which meant, sadly, that I lost my shirt.
Good thing you didn’t bet your pants……

I love that, when you see the guy run his mouth off, give the evil eyes etc. Then lasts 10 seconds in the ring.

🤣 My grandson is a big fan of that American stuff. That’s even worse!

I have one of my Age UK clients into it too. In her seventies! I can’t resist laughing.

Truthfully, the only boxer I ever liked was Ali. And that was him as a person, rather than as a boxer. You could fill a blog with Ali’s quotes and really have something decent.

There’s a rhythm gets stuck inside you. I find I have to think hard before writing anything else these days.

Funny you say so because I find that many of my poems have 7 or 8 syllables per line just by the rhythm in my head.

Oh, definitely. From time to time I have written sonnets and to get into that iambic pentameter mindset is far and away the biggest challenge.
