inspired by Fandango’s One Word Challenge (FOWC) of 6 September 2021, obvious.

An adventurous fellow called Fred,
Wanted eggs before heading to bed,
The obvious plan,
Was to boil in a pan,
But he had a cheese omlette instead

Nobody said these things had to be sensible, did they?

Reblog: Songshine Sunday #20

Over on our music blog, Songshine Sounds, KK posted an excellent track from way back in 1963, about female empowerment, which is every bit as relevant sixty years later.

I was thinking more about this heartbeat bill. Possibly its main effect will be to stifle debate in Texas, forcing pregnant women to secrecy for fear of implicating somebody. But that seems just as likely to result in a pro-choice outcome as it does in a pro-life outcome. So, I think even that will backfire.

Anyway, enjoy KK’s choice. It needs to be said, unfortunately, still.

Songshine Sounds

Whether or not there’s sunshine where you are in the world this Sunday, we hope you’ll enjoy a sunny track, and that it uplifts your spirit.

Today’s uplifting song is one that empowered me in my youth. It resurfaced for me this week as I watched the U.S. Supreme Court not uphold a women’s right to choose, but instead uphold a law that makes that choice nearly impossible.

The lyrics to this song clarify why this is such an important freedom for women. How can we have equality of the genders if we deny women these rights?

I hope today’s video empowers you to take a stand and voice your support of women’s rights in whatever way feels good and right. May we continue to strive for liberty and justice for all.
