Who Won the Week (27 June 2021)

In response to Fandango’s Who Won the Week post, I have been looking at my own newsfeeds.

Did any of you guys ever hear of a chap called Dominic Cummings?

Okay, this one is a no-brainer if you’re in the UK, but I’m guessing our internal politics is of little interest if you’re not.

Life through the Lens (27 June 2021)

When my eyesight was still good, I was a bit of an amateur photographer. This is one of mine.

Believe it or not, this is just a couple miles from where I live. I couldn’t resist those poppies, so when I got home after glimpsing them, I had to turn straight back around and go back, armed with my camera.

It’s funny, I don’t remember seeing that particular field full of poppies, either before or since that year.

Reblog: Songshine Sunday #11

This one was released just this year, so I am seriously unlikely to know anything this recent.

I am, however, trusting of KK’s ability to choose good tracks and once again, she’s has done a fine job.

Songshine Sounds

Graphig for the Songshine Sunday post

Whether or not there’s sunshine where you are in the world this Sunday, we hope you’ll enjoy a sunny track, and that it uplifts your spirit.

Langhorne Slim’s uplifting album Strawberry Mansion features an inspiring track called “Mighty Soul” that I’ve chosen for today’s musical lift. With a soft acoustic sound that features the banjo, this song reminds us to care for ourselves and practice self-love to withstand whatever lies ahead . The songs moving lyrics urge us to rise above hardships and anything this Earth throws at us to continue to make positive connections and contributions along the way.

Meeting Your Maker

inspired by Fandango’s One Word Challenge (FOWC) of 27 June 2021, terrible.

Crossing graveyard in highly stewed state,
Parish priest met a terrible fate,
Slipped in grave, took a dive,
And got buried alive,
Where he now pushes daisies first rate.
