Closure

This is my response to the Flashback Track Friday prompt, where we were given Get Ready by The Temptations and asked to simply:

Write a fairy tale.

Okay, a Fairytale of Paris, perhaps? I responded to Fandango’s Flash Fiction challenge the other day. If you remember, we used this image as its theme:

I felt that my original story had quite some more mileage, so here’s a second part, which I’m presenting today as my fairytale. You’ll understand why at the end.

Although it was only a short distance to the gallery, it was still raining. Songshine Sounds

Welcome once again to Flashback Track Friday. Each week, either KK or Mister Bump will present a song to you, and out of that song, will prompt you with a question.

The last time I hosted I focussed on reggae, which originated in Jamaica. I wanted to stay on that side of the Atlantic this week and present some Soul music.

Soul is a halfway house over here – not as big as in the USA, there is no dedicated R&B chart, but we still heard a lot of imports, and we invented our own flavour of Northern Soul back in the Seventies.

Tell It Like It Is

inspired by Fandango’s One Word Challenge (FOWC) of 25 June 2021, glib.

The boyfriend displaying outrage,
‘Cos his girlfriend was showing her age,
“Please go put on some make up,
Or quite soon we will break up”,
She replied, “Fuck off back to your cage”.

Incidentally Ingrid, who is far more eloquent than I (and who is far more subtle) wrote a brilliant poem along very similar lines only last night. If you don’t know her already, please check her out.
