inspired by Fandango’s One Word Challenge (FOWC) of 17 April 2021, capitulate.
Six-year-old daughter progressing at rate,
So I taught her some chess, to abate,
As I thought with a smile,
“This might take her a while”,
She looked up at me, uttered “Check Mate”

A child prodigy.

Not today, that’s what I say to my little one. But, I can feel it coming on. 😉

I can remember playing/beating mom but mine never showed an interest.

Don’t see my other kid playing, either, but you never know. Each kid has his/her own unique flair.

I’m rubbish at chess too – far too hasty and I doubt my 21yo even knows there is a game callws chess! Nice to see you Sanjeet.

You never know where they’ve been practising these days. Computers, phones, probably been watches. They’re all lining us up to be smashed by our kids at chess.
