Writer’s Block

for Fandango’s One Word Challenge (FOWC) of 18 October 2020, sublime.

Fandango gives the word “sublime”,
A brilliant choice to make a rhyme,
As I settle down, try to compose,
Anticipating what might flow.

My thinking cap upon my head,
My pencil it is full of lead,
My mug of tea stands piping hot,
But in my head…. there’s not a jot
.

I read some poems, that might inspire,
My effort destined to backfire,
These poems singing like a bird,
So why can’t I produce a word?

I think I’ll just give up today,
Things clearly will not go my way,
The only word I find to rhyme,
Appropriately, pantomime!
