Who Won the Eighties (11 October 2020)

I always liked Fandango’s Who Won the Week post, and like to join in with some quirky stories from my own newsfeeds. All from our unique vantage points, the idea is to pick something (a person, organisation, anything) which “won” the week.

A quickie today. U2’s Joshua Tree (1987) was this week voted the best album of the Eighties, by listeners of a UK national radio station (Radio 2). I don’t mind a bit of U2, although this wouldn’t even come close to being my Top Album. But nevertheless, that’s what people decided, so please enjoy my favourite U2 track (which also happened to come from this album).

  1. Oh yes, great pick! I agree their peak was the 1980s, but they were still very admired in the 1990s. I went to one of their concerts in Mexico City, part of their Zoo TV tour in 1992. I kind of remember that there were three concerts planned in Mexico, and they ended up giving an extra one due to high demand.
