Wednesday. Fandango’s Provocative Question once again. I looked in my reader and what should I see? This week, Fandango asks:
Do you judge yourself by the same standards that you judge others? If not, are you harsher or more lenient on yourself?
Until the stroke, I had always had ideals. I would try to do something to the best of my ability. I did not have to be a world-beater, but I had to be satisfied that I’d tried my best. Effort was important.
Since the stroke, it is the same, really. The effort is certainly still there, although the ability to reach high standards has dwindled. So I cut myself a lot of slack. It is what it is.
Monday, it took me about 20 minutes to attach a new disposable head to my razor. For that reason, I don’t change the blades so often, so do not look as sharp as I once did. It is what it is.
So, when looking at others, I tend to judge them on effort, too. For example, I know some of my friends will have trouble even seeing this post, but they made the effort (perhaps π). This can sometimes be frustration when people don’t meet my standards, but I have to (and do) bite my tongue. It is what it is. Especially nowadays, they’d probably see where I lived, and think it could do with a good tidy, but it is what it is.
Ahh to true, hopefully we have no need to bite our tongues too hard. Have a nice Wednesday.

I suppose ultimately we might say, “if you want something done properly, do it yourself”, except there’s a big question mark, how well, or even whether, you can do it yourself!

Good afternoon, Cap. I look around me and am generally quite disappointed with how the world has turned out. I suppose just to have that feeling, I must be judging.
