Granny!

A friend of mine, it is her daughter’s 18th birthday today. I’m a couple of years older than her but she had kids a lot sooner than I ever wanted to (and also a long while before I met my wife).

I used the occasion to remind her that the next step on the evolutionary ladder is to have grandchildren!

Yay, it is Friday again, and Fandango has just published his Friday Flashback post. The idea is that he picks a post from this day in a previous year, to give newer readers a better insight into what does and doesn’t make him tick.

I have always liked that idea, so shall also post my own reminiscence. As much as anything, it reminds me of where I was, where I am now, and how far I have come. Hopefully, you will find it entertaining along the way.

It is a nothing post today from 3 years ago. I’m sorry, I couldn’t find a better one to share. I guess because such an abnormal thing happened to me, it is tempting to lose track of the normal things, like when our children become adults. In fact, while the post is about a friend, all this has happened to me since, as well – my daughter sailed through her 18th birthday and is now almost 21. Fortunately there are no grandchildren yet, for either of us. My daughter seems barely able to look after herself, let alone another human being. But I suppose that’s being 21.

My friend is several years younger than me – she must still only be mid-forties now, and likes to remind me of the age gap, so it was an opportunity to turn the tables for once 🙂.
